Right now, I’ve got one foot in the tunnel of darkness, and the other in the light; but, I can’t seem to let myself fully embrace the radiance.
I spent a year of my life working towards becoming a teacher – and after spending money on my education and studying hours on end, I achieved that goal.
I have had so many emotions over the last few weeks since leaving: grief, anger, sadness… I have been beating myself up because I’m a coward. Did I just give up?
But the other choice was to suffer in my own mind and body. I’m not going to go into detail on what I suffered from – but I will say that if you aren’t happy and you aren’t healthy, something needs to change.
So what’s next?
My first order is to find a job that I can be comfortable, happy, and healthy in.
And a part of my rehabilitation is to find comfort in my art.
I’ve starting writing again, both creative and here on my blog. I’m collecting my hobbies like trading cards and Lego. I left those on the table for what felt like too long. I’m drawing and painting, making jewelry, and I plan on starting a gaming channel on YouTube.
But first steps are first. Each day is a new opportunity.
In April of 2020, while we were in the thick of Covid-19 and lockdown, I was involved in a traffic incident that caused my wrist to break. I had to learn to do things differently, figure how to deal with the pain and the panic that came with getting back on the road. But one thing that has lasted the longest, is my displeasure for the color red. The incident involved a red vehicle running a red light – and red just hasn’t meant the same thing since.
PTSD is nothing to be ashamed of but also nothing to be ignored. Writing about how I feel is a form of therapy for me, a way to get the emotions that would normally stay all locked up onto the page and out into the world.
Wake up, go to work, eat healthy, go to school, go home, spend time with the family, find time for hobbies, sleep…
It’s a lot. I’ve been juggling so much and the clock isn’t going any slower.
In addition to everything else I do, I’m creating Art Unlimited, my small online art business. I will be featuring, giving away, and selling my art – everything from paintings to LEGO builds to trading cards to video games. Stay tuned to this blog, as well as my socials to stay updated.
But until I can control all of the pieces of life and get the business underway, I’ll just be moving along with the current the river gives me. For now, answer this poll.
Before we can create our hero on the page, whether it be a novel, a comic book, or a movie script; we must first know what makes someone a hero. Merriam-Webster provides two definitions for hero and they are all equally applicable.
What is also important – is what individual people think of as a hero. What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think hero?
Was it Steve Rogers? A man that is willing to give up his life for what he believes in? Was it Wanda Maximoff? An anti-hero that gives up everything she loves to save innocent lives? Or maybe Peter Parker? The friendly neighborhood Spider-Man looking out for the little people?
Or did you think of a person in history that contributed their knowledge and skills to progressing society? Someone like: Rosie the Riveter who became a symbol for woman in the workforce; Albert Einstein who gave us laws of nature we still know today; or Martin Luther King Jr. who stood up for what was right and never backed down.
All of these people are heroes in their own ways. But there is more to a hero than just character traits. What about what happens to them? Story is not about what a character does – it is about what happens to that character and the way they react.
STAY TUNED FOR THE HERO’S JOURNEY PART II: AN OVERVIEW OF JOSEPH CAMBELL
There are a wide variety of natures that the Pokémon you catch can have. These are the personalities they hold and determine their base stats. Natures include Bashful, Docile, Hardy, Quirky, Serious, Gentle, Hasty, Lax, Mild, Brave, Quiet, Relaxed, Sassy, Rash, Lonely, Naughty, or Naïve.
But in this guide, I will cover Adamant, Modest, Jolly, Timid, Impish, Bold, Careful, and Calm. These are my opinions and are based on my experiences. Everyone is free to level up their Pokémon in anyway they see fit. Take my natures guide to point you in the right direction. From there, have fun!
ADAMANT – Physical Attacker
If you are looking for a Pokémon to hit hard with its physical attacks, then Adamant may be the nature for you. Find a partner that packs a punch and level them up until you have a one hit wonder.
Adamant natures have high attack but are low in special attack. This will give you a chance to master some strong physical moves.
MODEST – Special Attacker
Looking for a Pokémon with powerful special moves? Find a Modest natured partner and train them to perfect the moves unique to their style.
Modest natures have a high attack but a low physical attack. Overall, your specialized Pokémon will be super effective in causing status damage.
JOLLY & TIMID – Speed
There are going to be specific pokemon that will start with a base stat of high speed. But you can greater your chances of a higher speed by finding pokemon with Jolly or Timid natures.
Jolly natures are high in speed but low in special attack. On the other hand, Timid natures are high in speed but low in attack. If speed is what you are looking for and don’t mind training your Pokémon in order to level up those attack stats, one of these natures could be for you.
IMPISH & BOLD – Physical Defense
Pokémon battles are not just about who can hit the hardest. Sometimes you need to take a hit – and if your warriors are not equipped with strong defense stats, this can be a KO; causing you to revive and heal over and over again just to win a single battle.
Impish natures are low in special attack but make up for it in their defense. Bold are low in their attack but make for up in their defense. Either of these natures can be a good start in leveling up a Pokémon that may not hit hard but can take a hard hit.
CAREFUL & CALM – Special Defense
Pokémon differentiate between physical and special attacks – so you will want a Pokémon that has strong special defense as well.
Careful natures are low in special attack but are high in special defense. Calm natures are low in their attack but high in special defense. This Pokémon will be key in going up against a hard hitting Pokémon with mastered special moves.
Picking up Pokémon Legends: Arceus has been the best decision of 2022. Maybe that’s a little dramatic. But I’ve never been so enveloped by a Pokémon game. One of my own weaknesses is understanding and remembering which type of moves should take on other types. So I decided to make my own guide. Use this as you need when leveling up your Pokémon, battling your way through Hisui, and catching them all.

If you are looking to pick up some of these sets, please consider using my affiliate link:
76202 Wolverine Mech Armor
There are currently only 3 Wolverine Minifigures in existence. This new mech will give collectors an opportunity to get their hands on a Wolverine. Fingers crossed we get more X-Men sets in the future.
75327 Luke Skywalker (Red Five) Helmet
I have never bought one of the helmet sets. But this Skywalker helmet hits all of the points. It’s got a unique design, insane display quality, and the translucent pieces takes it to the next level. I am just as excited to display this as I am to build it.
76209 Thor’s Hammer
Um…yes! This is what Marvel and AFOL have been waiting for. We have the Iron Man figure, the Infinity Gauntlet, a huge Daily Bugle, the Guardians’ Ship and more, so it makes sense we would finally get Mjollnir. And it opens the door to a wide variety of other Marvel sets we could get in the future.
76956 T. Rex Breakout
With the next Jurassic World movie coming soon, we are throwing it back to the 1993 film that started it all. Jurassic Park is one my favorite film franchises and I will never turn down a chance to get a LEGO built dinosaur. The build, display quality, and play features are all amazing for the price of $99.99 USD.
The Super Bowl trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness dropped and gave Scarlet Witch fans a good helping of new scenes with our anti-heroine. And the biggest question we all still have after the WandaVision finale is: Will Wanda be a villain?
You break the rules and become a hero. I do it, I become the enemy. That doesn’t seem fair.
Wanda to Doctor Strange
We see two versions of Wanda. Firstly, the one that Doctor Strange goes to for help. And then a slightly more ruthless looking version. Maybe the outcome of WandaVision were different for this variant of Wanda.
The film comes out May 6th. The silver screen will be blessed again with the presence of Benedict Cumberbatch (Strange), Elizabeth Olson (Wanda), Benedict Wong (Wong), Rachel McAdams (Christine), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Mordo), and the introduction of Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez.
Who do you think we will see from the multiverse? There are theories including some of the beloved X-Men. Who do you want to see appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madeness?
February 9, 2022, Nintendo dropped some exciting titles and DLCs to look forward to this year. I did not include them all. Click here to watch the full direct. Here are the ones that I am most excited to play in the following months.
Mario Strikers Battle League
Nintendo.com
This franchise has been around since 2005; but this is the first time I have heard of it. Many young Mario fans are going to be exposed to this action packed sports game.
Mario and his friends use different gear to enhance their speed, strength, and pass accuracy on the field. Use items like bombs to make gameplay explosive! Tackle the other team and steal the ball! Create a hyper strike and shoot a goal to earn double points!
Mario Strikers supports up to 8 players on a single Switch. Nintendo Online members can join games worldwide and even join clubs to become the best Strikers there are.
Mario Strikers Battle League is available June 10, 2022. Preorders available now. Watch the trailer below.
Splatoon 3 Salmon Run Next Wave
cinelinx.com
Nintendo released a trailer of Splatoon 3 Salmon Run Next Wave which displays the multiplayer gameplay. In the apocalypse looking world, the squidlings must battle enemies such as Fish Stick and Flipper Flopper. Hopefully there are more Splatoon updates soon.
Splatoon 3 Salmon Run Next Wave comes summer 2022. Watch the trailer below.
Nintendo Switch Sports
Nintendo.com
I spent a good deal of my childhood playing memorable sports in my living room, flinging the Wii-Mote in all directions. Wii Sports gave us great memories, great music, and hilarious videos. And who could forget throwing the bowling ball behind you and all the Miis freaking out!?
Let’s hope Nintendo Switch Sports will be new and fresh while sustaining the nostalgic feeling of starting your own family bowling team. The base game includes the fan favorites of tennis, bowling, and chambara (swordplay) with the addition of soccer, volleyball, and badminton. Later updates will include a kicking action in soccer (with leg strap included with physical game) and the added sport of golf.
February 18-20, Nintendo Online members can take part in the online play test. See details below or visit the web page here.
Nintendo Switch Sports will be available April 29, 2022. Watch the trailer below.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass
dotesports.com
We didn’t get the Mario Kart announcement that was speculated by many. But I for one am excited to be getting anything Mario Kart related. The paid DLC will include a total of 48 remastered courses from across Mario Kart history. The $24.99 USD pass includes 6 waves of 8 additional courses through the end of 2023. These courses will be available to play locally and online.
The first wave releases March 18, 2022. Preorders available now. Watch the trailer below.
